Albert James Quartly was born in Somerset 6-8-1875 and enlisted in to the Royal Navy in 1894. He was awarded his LS&GC in 1909 and during WW1 he served onboard HMS Suffolk & HMS Concord. He was still serving in 1919 when he transferred to the Coastguard.
