Charles Douglas Home was commissioned in to the Gloucestershire regiment in February 1900 and attached to the 3rd East Surrey Regiment for service during the Boer War. He first landed in France in July 1915 serving with the Royal Berkshire Regiment and went on to be discharged with a silver war badge. His address on discharge was Westbury Park, Bristol but he later gave his address as Farrington near Hereford. He was a Fine Wine dealer from Bristol in later life.
