The recipient was born at Aldershot & enlisted in to the Imperial Yeomanry at Newcastle 1-2-1901. He served in South Africa 16-2-01 through to 11-8-02. He returned to Newcastle and took his discharge 18-8-1902. He was awarded his Imperial Yeomanry long service in February 1905 & was one of only 36 recipients of the Imperial Yeomanry long service medal to this unit.
