WW2 AUSTRALIAN FAMILY GROUP TO BROTHER & SISTER, R.A.A.F PILOT KIA 7-6-1944

A family group to a brother & sister from Queensland.
1) Atlantic Star & Defence Medal

Flying officer Ronald Henry Buchan-Hepburn was the son of Walter Scott Buchan-Hepburn & Julia Buchan-Hepburn of Cairns, Queensland, Australia. He was born at Atherton 22-2-1923 and enlisted 7-12-1941. He was the pilot of Liberator BZ915 R.A.A.F and was based at St Eval. He was on a night flight from St Eval 7-6-1944 when they came under attack on the French coast at 0207 hours and was lost with all crew members. He is commemorated on the Runnymede memorial & was 21 years of age at the time of his death. The Australian war memorial has a very good portrait photograph of the recipient wearing his pilots wings.
2) WW2 Australia Service medal
To- 98298.P.A.BUCHAN-HEPBURN
Cpl Pearl Alice Buchan-Hepburn was born 8-3-1921 and was the older sister of Ronald Henry Buchan-Hepburn. She was born at Herberton, Queensland and enlisted in to the R.A.A.F at Camp Hill 23-3-1942. She served with No-3 stores depot and was discharged 14-1-1946.
