The recipients award of the British Empire Medal for services in Burma was published in the London gazette 14-6-1945 with the following citation.
Sergeant Hogarth is employed on personnel staff duties and for over a year, has been responsible for maintaining the group strength in Airmen. At all times the needs of the group have been his first consideration. For long periods he has worked hours far exceeding the normal & by his cheerful efficiency and consistent devotion to duty, has shown outstanding initiative in anticipating and preparing for future demands.
