Thomas Mc manus was a pre war member of Sunderland Borough police force & went on to enlist in to the 160th Wearside Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery. He was awarded the MM for services in France in the London gazette 14-5-1919 which stated that he was a resident of Millfield, Sunderland. He returned to the force after his military service and served as a detective.
