The recipient was originally commissioned in to the Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment & went on to serve with the 90th Punjabis. He was mentioned in despatches four times all for services in Mesopotamia & these were published in the London gazettes dated 4-4-1916, 14-8-1917, 23-8-1918 & 5-6-1919. He was awarded the MC for services in Mesopotamia in the London gazette dated 17-4-1916 & went on to serve in Iraq, Kurdistan & Waziristan post WW1.
