James Harrison from Forest Hall, Northumberland was born 11-3-1883 & was one of the original members of the 16th service battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers / Newcastle Commercials. He first landed in France 22-11-1915 & went on to transfer to both the 21st & 25th battalions. He was wounded in the back whilst serving with the 21st battalion in October 1917 & was captured by the Germans & taken prisoner of war on the first day of the March offensive 21-3-1918 at Bullecourt whilst serving with the 25th battalion. He was discharged to the class Z army reserve at the wars end & returned to live on station road in Forest Hall.
