The recipient was killed in action in France & Flanders at the battle of Mons 23-8-1914. He was 39 years of age at the time of his death & is buried in St. Symphorien military cemetery.The CWGC state that he was the late son of Denis Walsh of Affane, Cappoquin & The late husband of Margaret Walsh (Nee Lenane) of the Green, Villerstown, Cappoquin, County Wexford.
VF or better & a very early WW1 fatal casualty.
