James Crichton was a lithographic printer from Edinburgh and on two separate occasions he saved two men from drowning. On the first occassion he dived in to Victoria Docks at Leith 30-7-1871 & on the second he again jumped in to 19 feet of water at chain pier, Trinity 4-8-1871.
A rare example of the medal & clasp both earned in the same week.
