Late issue 1939-45 Star, Air Crew Europe Star & 1939-45 War Medal. Mounted on a bar for wearing & housed in the original Royal Mint presentation case.
As issued to the widow of the late
939928.F/SGT.PATRICK.CONLON.RAF.VR
The recipient was part of a three man crew onboard Bristol Blenheim V5502 with 105 squadron. It took off on a anti shipping patrol and was shot down by a flak ship and crashed in to the sea at Ijmuiden at 13.00 hours. All three crew members were lost. The recipient was the W/Op.AG of the crew & is buried in Westdiun general cemetery at the Hague.
His widow applied for his medals in 1986 & at this point the RAF was issued WW2 stars with large rings & when sending out medals that were posthumously awarded to fatal war time casualties they mounted them on a bar & presented them in a Royal Mint presentation case.
