Sidney Hankin from Prudhoe, Northumberland was born 27-5-1918 and was serving with the 8th battalion of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers when he was taken prisoner of war by the Germans at Carvein 26-5-1940 during the fall of France. He became P.O.W number 9842 at Stalag XXA at Thorn. He was released at the wars end & returned to Northumberland. He was awarded the efficiency medal in army order 20 of 1946.
All three medals are mint boxed & group is accompanied by the recipients AB64 Army paybook. Along with the letter of issue of the efficiency medal.
