He was attached to the 20th service battalion of the Rifle Brigade as WO.CL.2 During WW1 with service numbers 521 & 202590 & was M.I.D by Allenby for services in Egypt in the London Gazette 21-1-1919. He was awarded the LS&GC in army order 130 of 1919.
