The recipients service number is part of a block of numbers issued to the Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment. He served at Dunkirk / the fall of France in 1940 & was listed on the official casualty list as missing presumed prisoner of war? but this was not the case. He was serving with the 4th battery of the 1st light anti aircraft regiment, Royal Artillery in the Western desert when he was taken prisoner of war 6-6-1942. He was held in the Italian P.O.W camp 52 at Urbisaglia Macerata as P.O.W number 3300. He was reported as no longer being a P.O.W in Italian Hands in 1944 & returned to the UK. He went on to serve in Palestine 1945-48 & was recalled from the reserve to serve in Korea 1950-53. He took his discharge at the end of the conflict & had no interest what so ever in medals. As such his daughter successfully made a claim for the issue of his medals in 1985. As such these are slightly later issue medals but they are not replacements.
NEF & Complete with boxes of issue for the medals. Along with POW roll details, Copy medal application card details & other basic details.
