WW1 FAMILY GROUP TO THREE MEMBERS OF THE SWEDISH OLSSON FAMILY WHO SETTLED IN WEST HARTLEPOOL, MERCANTILE MARINE, K.O.S.B KIA LOOS 25-9-1915 & RE
A nice family group to three members of the Olsson family who were of Swedish descent but settled in West Hartlepool.
1) Mercantile Marine medal

John Oscar Olsson was born in Jathenbury, Sweden 1855 & served with the British Mercantile Marine in WW1. By the time he was issued with his medals in 1919 he was living & working in West Hartlepool, County Durham
2) WW1 Pair
To- 13220.A-CPL.J.O.OLSSON.K.O.S.B
John Oscar Olsson Junior was born, enlisted & lived in West Hartlepool. He first landed in France 9-7-1915 serving with the 7th service battalion of the K.O.S.B. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders on the first day of the battle of Loos 25-9-1915. He was 24 years of age & sadly having no known grave he is commemorated on the Loos memorial.
3) 1914-15 Trio

Gustav was the younger son of John Oscar Olsson senior. He was born in West Hartlepool & first arrived in France 6-7-1915 serving with the Royal Engineers. He was discharged to the class Z reserve in 1919.
NEF/EF & Complete with the box of issue for the mercantile marine medal, the postal envelope for the pair to the K.O.S.B casualty & the box of issue & silver ID bracelet for the Royal Engineer. Along with MIC details, CWGC details, SDGW details, register of soldiers effects details, Mercantile Marine card details & other basic biographical information. Obviously the group is missing a British War medal for J.O.Olsson senior & a 1914-15 star & memorial plaque for J.O.Olsson junior.
