Frederick Robert Martin was severely wounded at Doornkop 29-5-1900 serving with the 1st Gordon Highlanders. On the outbreak of WW1 he was working as a gunsmith & living in Calgary. He was commissioned in to the 31st Canadian Infantry in 1915 & went on to be both wounded in France 14-4-1918 & M.I.D for services in France in the London gazette 1-6-1917.
