James McCallum was a member of the 2nd volunteer battalion of the Gordon Highlanders with service number V78. He was a 20 year old painter from Aberdeen when he enlisted for service in South Africa & served with the 2nd battalion in South Africa from 18-2-1900 through to 2-5-1901. He returned home the following day & was discharged 6-5-1901.
