WW1 1914-15 Trio & Memorial Plaque

Walter Percival Martin from Bletchworth joined the H.A.C in August 1914 & arrived in France the following year & was wounded in France 29-9-1915. He was commissioned in the 7th battalion of the Duke of Cornwall's light infantry in March of 1916 & fought with the battalion at most of the units actions of that year until he was killed in action in France & Flanders 24-8-1916 age 26 at Bernafay wood & is buried in Bernafay wood cemetery at Moutauban.
He was the late son of Mr & Mrs W.J.Martin of upper lodge, Broom park, Bletchworth. He was a former scholar of Whitgift grammar school, Croydon & is noted on the school roll of honour as a talented musician.
