William.F.Murtagh from Wilmslow, Cheshire was born 1867 & served with the 1st K.R.R.C during the Boer war at the battle of Talana & at the Defence of Ladysmith. He went on to serve with the Royal Engineers in WW1. He died in 1920 and his widow made a pension claim whilst living at Chapel lane, Wimslow, Cheshire.
