HMS COSSACK(AGS) HMS VICTORIOUS (LS&GC)
Charles Bean was born in Stonegate, Yorkshire 12-8-1878 & joined the Royal Navy as a painter 2nd class 26-8-1899. He served onboard HMS Cossack during the Somaliland operations of 1902-04 & was awarded his LS&GC 17-9-1914 Whilst serving onboard HMS Victorious. He served onboard HMS Victorious & HMS Prince George during WW1 but was invalided to shore 29-9-1916. He sadly went on to die a home due to his war service & is buried under a CWGC headstone in Kensal green cemetery. He was 39 years of age at the time of his death & is recorded by the CWGC as the late Husband of Grace Helena Green (Formerly Bean) of 120 Lancaster Road, North Kensington, London.
