Thomas Henry Balfour from Edinburgh was born in 1880 & was a qualified doctor when he first arrived in France with the B.E.F in 1914 as a Lieutenant & medical officer attached to the 2nd Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. He was twice mentioned in despatches for services in France in the London gazette 17-2-1915 & 24-12-1917. He was awarded the Military Cross (MC) for services in France in the London gazette 18-2-1915 & sadly died in India as a Brevet Major 16-3-1920 & is buried in Quetta government cemetery & commemorated on the Delhi memorial. He is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of Andrew & Caroline Harriett Balfour, MD of Portobello, Edinburgh.
