James Henry Whitehead from Bury was awarded his volunteer long service medal in January 1909 after 20 years service & went on to serve in Egypt as a WO.CL.2 with the 1/5th battalion in 1915. He was discharged later the same year & is also entitled to the 1914-15 trio.
