WW1 1914-15 Star,

John Vaughan first landed in France 28-7-1915 serving with the 2/1st Westmoreland & Cumberland Yeomanry. He went on to transfer to the 7th battalion of the Border Regiment with service number 260589 & was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 28-10-1917 age 37. He was born in Netherall, Cumberland & enlisted in Penrith. Whilst living in Whitehaven. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Tyne Cot memorial & is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of the late David & Jane Agnus Vaughan of Maryport & the late husband of Annie Vaughan of 35 High Street, Workington, Cumberland.
