William Alfred Woodgate was born in Brighton 20-3-78 & enlisted in to the Royal Navy in 1897. He served with the parties landed from HMS Terrible at the Relief of Pekin & was also onboard Terrible during the Boer war of 1899-1902 & is entitled to a no clasp QSA. He was discharged in 1909 having completed his 12 years service & went on to serve with the Merchant Navy during WW1 & is also entitled to the Mercantile Marine pair.
