Arnold Herklots was born in Bristol 18-10-1879 & was commissioned in to the Imperial Yeomanry 6-9-1900 but was attached to the A.S.C whilst in South Africa. He first landed in France 16-8-1914 & his entitlement to the August to November 1914 clasp his confirmed on his MIC. He was twice M.I.D 20-10-1914 & 1-1-1917. He was awarded the D.S.O for services in France in the London gazette 1-1-1917 & spent a large part of the war as the deputy assistant director of transport. He returned to England in 1919 but was soon shipped out to India and served in the Waziristan campaign of 1921-24. He retired from the army in 1930 & went on to serve in the family business as a coffee planter in India.
