Thomas Banks was born in Blaydon on Tyne & lived in Newcastle on Tyne. He was one of the original members of the 24th service battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers / 1st Tyneside Irish. He was killed in action in France & Flanders 16-9-1916 & sadly having no known grave other than the battlefields of the Somme. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial
