John McFadyean was living in Stration Ayrshire when he enlisted in to the Royal Scots Fusiliers. He was sadly killed in action serving with the 12th service battalion of the Highland Light Infantry during the March offensive 25-3-1918. He was 22 years of age at the time of his death and had been issued with a new service number 350354.He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Pozieres memoral and recorded by the CWGC as the late son of William and Sarah McWhirter McFadyean of Genoch cottage, Straiton, Maybole, Ayrshire.
