Charles Tydesley Downey Greetham was born in 1867 & joined the Royal Navy in 1888. He served onboard the flagship HMS Doris in the Cape Colony during the Boer War and during WW1 he was one of the most senior officers to survive the sinking of HMS Natal in 1915. He was then posted to HMS Redoubtable in 1916 and remained with her until his final posting to HMS Victory in January 1918. He retired in August of the same year and died in Bristol in 1924.
