John William Hammond was born in Martham, Norfolk & enlisted in Norwich. He was originally a member of the Norfolk regiment with service number 23158 but first arrived in France serving with the 7th battalion of the Border Regiment 30-12-1915. He sadly died of wounds in France & Flanders 23-3-1916 age 20. He is buried in Bailleuel communal cemetery, Nord, France.
