William Lyons was born in Bristol & enlisted in to the 14th Light Dragoons 27-5-1847 & served with the regiment at Umbeyla & in the Punjab. But did not serve with the regiment in Persia.He left the army in 1870 after 22 years service & settled in Jersey.
