Charles William Hearn was born in Southampton in 1864 & was a long serving member of the 3rd volunteer battalion of the Hampshire Regiment. He was awarded the volunteer long service medal in 1900 after 20 years service. He served in South Africa during the Boer war with the battalion & was commissioned in to the 3rd Wessex field ambulance in 1910. He landed in France 6-11-1914 with the 26th field ambulance & was mentioned in despatches for services in France in the London gazette 22-6-1915. He was awarded the TD in the London gazette 7-6-1917 & was discharged with a silver war badge at the wars end. He lived in both Southsea & Eastbourne after leaving the army & died in Eastbourne in 1949 age 85.
Lightly polished NEF/GVF & Mounted as originally worn by the recipient. The reverse of the TD has been privately named & the top bar has had the pin removed from the reverse. Complete with extensive research details that include a full set of both officers & other ranks service papers along with London gazette details & other military & biographical details.
