John Bell was born in Penrith, Cumberland and enlisted in Edinburgh whilst living in North Shields. He first landed in France 17-8-1914 serving with the 16th Lancers. He was attached to the 7th battalion of the Kings Liverpool regiment as acting regimental Sjt Major when he was killed in action in France & Flanders 6-9-1916. He is buried in Dantzig Alley cemetery & is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of John & Emily Bell of Newcastle on Tyne & the late husband of Marion Mildred Bell of Targetts Farm, Holwell, Cranborne, Sailsbury.
